It can certainly pay well.
Years ago, before I started Smart Blogger, I earned $99 an hour doing content marketing work on the side.
I won't say it was always fun. Truth is, some clients are jerks, and I spent quite a bit of time biting my tongue.
But it paid the bills until I could get my own site off the ground.
And I made lots of useful connections. Some of the clients I took on (the non-jerk ones) became genuine mentors.
Of course, that begs the question...
Where do you find clients that want content marketing work?
Well, check this out:
Info on Content Marketing Certification Program
My friends over at Copyblogger are looking for a fresh crop of writers to go through their certification program. Not only do they train you how to do content marketing, but they show you how to get clients too.
And listen to this...
They just launched a new "done-for-you" services division that's looking for writers right now. So, not only do you get training, but you have a chance to be connected into an existing pipeline of work.
If I were starting over again, this is exactly the type of opportunity I would be looking for.
Granted, you could say I'm biased. Brian and Sonia are longtime friends, and they asked me to promote the program as an affiliate, meaning I'll get a commission if you take the class.
But that's not why I'm recommending it. Right now, I genuinely believe this is the best way to get started as a content marketer.
Give it a look. I think you'll like what you see:

PS: I'm told they are closing the doors on Monday, June 12. If you're interested, be sure to check it out ASAP.
